SHORT TRACK RULESGENERAL | MICRO SPRINTS | GO-KARTS | QUADS | BIG TRACK RULES All rules are subject to change to keep in line with National and other local tracks rules. Cars, parts, components, and/or equipment will not be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through inspection at any time or any number of times unobserved or undetected. Refer to Wild West Speedway general rules for racing procedures and rules of conduct. Unless these specs say you can do something, you cannot. If you have questions call the track or email us. Safety 1. Drivers must wear all required gear when on the racetrack. 1a. Driving gear: Helmet with eye protection, Neck support, Long sleeves and full length pants, Shoes and Gloves are required. 2. Must have a working kill switch within easy reach of driver, cage karts must have an additional switch mounted in the right rear area on roll cage with the "ON" position pointing forward or up.
1. ENGINE: 600cc
4 cylinder 4 stroke as comes on a stock production bike for public sale
in the U.S.A. No current year production engines.Except as noted, all
internal and external engine parts must remain stock with no modifications,
metal removal, blueprinting. Valve seat inserts
may be reworked. Valve springs may be shimmed with standard or aftermarket
shims. Cylinder head combustion chambers may be cleaned by bead blasting with valves seated in place. Cylinder head
gaskets may be replaced only with original equipment manufacturers
stock parts (All 3 layers of the head gasket must be used). All other
gaskets may be replaced with duplicate aftermarket parts. Light cleaning
of gasket surfaces with steel wool, Scotch-Brite, etc. is allowed. Transmission gears
may be shimmed only for the purpose of proper engagement. Standard or
aftermarket shims may be utilized. Fuel injection
engines may run carburetors. Injected with power commander allowed gas
or alcohol. No timing modules allowed. Fuel injection engines running
carburetors may change all fuel metering devices to tune fuel curve, Billet
intake boots allowed. Modification of
oil pan & pick up allow allowed or aftermarket ok. Modification to
thermostat cover allowed or aftermarket ok. Modification to
water pump cover allowed or aftermarket ok. Any air box, stock
appearing CDI, aftermarket washable replacement air filter, power commander
on fuel injection models only. 2. FUEL: Fuel
cell securely mounted. Tank used for qualifying heats must remain for
all events. No fuel addatives. 4: TIRES: RR tire must durometer over 50 after a cool down period of 10 minutes. 5. WINGS: 10 square ft. max, left sideboard 24 x 48, right sideboard 18 x 48, nose wing 18 x 24 max. 6. OTHER: No cockpit adjustments of any kind.
GENERAL | MICRO SPRINTS | GO-KARTS | QUADS | BIG TRACK RULES Frames 1. Steel frame 2. All Junior class karts must have a minimum four point steel roll cage bolted or welded to the frame. Cage must have a minimum 3" head clearance. 3. Front and rear bumpers required, must be tublular design. 4. Nerf bars required. Tires & Wheels 1. Any 5" or 6" diameter steel or aluminum wheels. 2. Any compound slick or treaded tire. Brakes 1. Mechanical or hydraulic disk required. Numbers 1. Numbers must be prominately displayed in a contrasting color on front, rear and both sides of kart. Weights 1. All weights added to kart must be bolted to point of attachment with adequate fasteners, painted white and have their car number on them. CLASSES Junior 1 Cage Kart 1. Age: 4-7 years old 2. Weight: 250 lbs. Kart with driver 3. Fuel: Gasoline only 4. Engine: Single cylinder 126cc OHV/OHC, 148cc "L" head type or restricted stock Animal with a .220" Purple Horstman restrictor plate or Clone engine with a .500 restrictor plate. 4a. Restrictor on Animal must be mounted between carburetor and manifold and must have gaskets. Absoutely no modifications to the plate will be tolerated! 4b. THE FOLLOWING MODIFICATIONS ARE ALLOWED: Governor assembly may be removed, fuel pump allowed, any air cleaner, adjustable carb jet, exhaust header (header must have a flared end or washer) 5. Clutch: Drum style clutches only. (Max torque SS / Noram GE) Junior 2 Cage Kart 1. Age: 7-10years old 2. Weight: 285 lbs. Kart with driver 3. Fuel: Gasoline or Alcohol only 4. Engine: Restricted stock Animal with a .279" RED Horstman restrictor plate or Clone engine with a .550 restrictor plate. 4a. Restrictor must be mounted between carburetor and manifold and must have gaskets. Absoutely no modifications to the plate will be tolerated! 4b. THE FOLLOWING MODIFICATIONS ARE ALLOWED: Governor assembly may be removed, fuel pump allowed, any air cleaner, adjustable carb jet, exhaust header (header must have a flared end or washer) 5. Clutch: Drum style clutches only. (Max torque SS / Noram GE) Junior 3 Cage Kart 1. Age: 10-16 years old 2. Weight: 330 lbs. Kart with driver 3. Fuel: Gasoline or Alcohol only 4. Engine: Stock Animal or Animal Clone engine. 4a. THE FOLLOWING MODIFICATIONS ARE ALLOWED: Governor assembly may be removed, fuel pump allowed, any air cleaner, adjustable carb jet, exhaust header (header must have a flared end or washer) 5. Clutch: Any clutch (disk or drum) 4 Cycle Stock Speedway Kart -Blue Motor Class- 1. Age: 14 and up 2. Weight: 350 lbs. Kart with driver 3. Fuel: Gasoline only 4. Engine: Stock Animal Clone engine 4b. THE FOLLOWING MODIFICATIONS ARE ALLOWED: Governor assembly may be removed, fuel pump allowed, any air cleaner, adjustable carb jet, exhaust header (header must have a flared end or washer) 5. Clutch: Drum style clutches only. (Max torque SS / Noram GE) SPECIFICATIONS FOR CLONE ENGINES OHV CLONE RULES APPROVED ENGINES--OHV engines generally referred to as Clones with a maximum displacement of 200cc's. (current legal engines include the Lifan, Grey Hound, Harbor Freight blue & yellow, Jaingdong, Yamakoyo, Blue Max) ENGINE SPECIFIC TECH SHEET FOR BOX STOCK 6.5 OHV Single cylinder, 2 valve, ohv 4 cycle Important note: All parts must be Box Stock factory production parts unless otherwise specified in these rules. NO MACHINING OR ALTERATION OF PARTS IS ALLOWED UNLESS SPECIFICALLY NOTED. All parts will be subject to comparison to a known box stock part( when performing comparison check it is recommended to use a +/-.005" tolerance.) Engine will be teched as raced. There will also be a $200 claiming rule in place for this engine. Refusing to accept the claimer will result immediate disqualification of competitor along with forfeiture of 1/2 points earned to date in class and suspended for 2 races. Second time offense: you will be moved out of the class. COMBUSTION CHAMBER VOLUME: 27.5 cubic centimeter minimum, with piston at TDC<using prescribed procedure. CYLINDER HEAD REQUIREMENTS: must be OEM casting only. Porting and /or grinding are not permitted. Valve seats are two angles,45 degrees valve face and 30 degrees top relief. Stock head bolts only, must have four. Head gaskets maybe after market, must be of stock configuration. No copper or aluminum gaskets allowed. Any stock configuration gasket allowed on exhaust, no other sealer. BORE $ STROKE: Stock cylinder bore is 2.685" max. Stroke is 2.123"+/-.005. CARBURETOR REQUIREMENTS: Huayi or RUI*ING model carb only. Carb to intake sealer is gasket only no other sealer allowed. Choke must be as supplied from factory, but may be fixed to stay in open position. Choke bore .810 NO-GO. Venturi .615"NO-GO. Rear carb bore .751"NO-GO. Main fuel jet up to .042 NO-GO. Stock air cleaner assembly only. If you are running a floor mounted tank, Pulse type fuel pumps are allowed. Fuel pump must be pulsed from either the crank case or the valve cover. You must install a flat metal plate in the original tank location for the purpose of mounting the throttle linkage and fuel pump. VALVE TRAIN: Stock valve cover only with any stock configuration gasket, no sealer. Factory sealer rocker arms and push rods only. Stock valves only 45 degree angle on both valves, no modifications allowed. Only Box Stock valve springs . Max wire diameter on spring wire is .0698" with a maximum tension of 10.8lbs. at a height of .850". IGNITION SYSTEM: Stock Box Sysytem only and must be unaltered. Kill switch and low oil sensor may be disabled and removed.
PISTON AND RINGS: Must be unaltered Box Stock only. NO MACHINING OF ANY TYPE ALLOWED. CONNECTING ROD: Stock Box rod only. NO MACHINING OF ANY TYPE ALLOWED. Stock rod bolts only. CRANKSHAFT REQUIREMENTS: Stock Box crankshaft equired. MACHINING< POLISHING< ADDITION OF MATERIAL OR OTHER ALTERATION OF CRANKSHAFT IS PROHIBITED. Stock factory timing gear mandatory and must be installed in original location. Crankshaft journal diameter is 1.180"-1.175"min. CAMSHAFT REQUIREMENTS: Stock as cast camshaft only. See profile listed below. THe following Box Stock Cam Profile is NOW recognized by the Box Stock Project. Box Stock Cam Profile Specs EXHAUST INTAKE MAX LIFT .242 ON EXHAUST TAKEN ON VALVE SPRING RETAINER WITH ZERO LASH. MAX LIFT .238 ON INTAKE TAKEN ON VALVE SPRING RETAINER WITH ZERO LASH. USE +/- 3 DEG ON ALL LIFT CHECKS block requirements: Block must remain stock as produced. Stub for governor may be removed and hole plugged. NO MACHINING OF BLOCK ALLOWED. Welding to the block shall be for rod damage repair only and may not constitute a functional modification. CLAIMER RULE: You must finish the race in the Box Stock class to purchase the winners engine for $200 (minus the clutch/chain guard, throttle kit, header pipe/muffler, air filter adaptor,air filter, top plate & fuel pump.) ONly the top three are alloawed to be claimed. The protest fee is $50.00 and if you protest you must tear down also. Any illegal parts found will be confiscated and kept by the promoter.
SPECIFICATIONS FOR ANIMAL ENGINES Cylinder blocks: (max. .030 bore) (piston pop up +.005" MAX). Converted Inteks must run Animal head Piston: stock Briggs pistons installed per. Manufacturers specs. (Arrow to mag. side, no machining) Rod: Any stock length rod can be used. Crankshaft: Stock crank. (Stock dimensions) Flywheel: Stock Jr. Racecar or Briggs PVL. (Stock magneto) Cylinder head: Combustion chamber floor depth, no less than .319! Combustion chamber squish band areas around plug and bottom portion of chamber no less than .011! (Will be measured with a quality depth gauge and will have 0 tolerances.) Valves: Intake OD min. & max. 1.055 - 1.065, Exhaust OD min. & max. 935 - .945 Minimum Valve Length = 3.250" (1 angle, no polishing, stock keeper grove location) Valve springs: Stock valve springs. (Or stock replacement to exact stock specs) Camshafts: will be profiled out using a degree wheel with IKF profile. (Maximum cam lifts .257") (Gross valve lift will be teched @ valve spring retainer .255" maximum lift with no lash) ( Factory core camshafts only) Lifters: stock replacement only. Push Rods: Stock length. (5.638-5.656 minimum and maximum length) Rocker Arms: Stock replacement only. (No alterations of any kind, comparison to a known stock part will be used) Valve Cover: Stock valve cover with working stock baffle. No tapping or welding. Carburetor:
Items that drop from the bottom of carburetor with bowl off are not tech
items: Intake manifold: The only alteration allowed is slotting of holes for proper alignment. Restrictor
plate: Plates may not be altered in any way. No beveling of holes, either
side. Plates will be checked with no-go gauge. Plates must be installed
with tab on the right side. Crank case ventilation: (from valve cover only) Starter: Any type starter allowed. Notes: These engine tech specs can be changed at any time per tracks updates. All engine parts, except listed allowed changeable parts can be teched to a known stock Briggs Animal part. Notes: This is a stock engine class and if anything is altered or replaced other than what is listed in this engine spec sheet it does not fit the mandated requirements. All Animal engines will be teched per IKF go/no-go gauges. GENERAL

RULES QuadsWe will have two quad classes. They will be based on rider experience not on the type of bike. Riders may be required to move up in class if track feels like they are to talented to race in a lower class. AMATEUR - some racing experience necessary, trophies top 3. PRO - experienced riders, 70% payback on entry fees top 3.
